Sensei Aitkenhead began studying Aikido in 1974 under the direction of Sensei Kenneth Williams and in 2001 was awarded 8th Dan. He also had the privilege of being awarded 2nd Dan and instructed by Sensei Koichi Tohei, both in the UK and Japan. He has run local clubs in Glasgow, London and Poole; and taught seminars in the UK, Paris, Moscow, Amsterdam, Bucharest, Toronto and Vancouver.
