“Even better than last year!”, was one person’s comment, with several others echoing the sentiment. More people on every session and loads of positive Ki.
Many thanks to all those that helped to make it run so smoothly and successfully.
A new approach was bowing in as a big group at the beginning and then dynamically changing partners after a few exercises. This meant trying things out with lots of people and building connections.
The learning stage is where we explore the movement of mind and body and repeat to the point where we are not consciously thinking about each step or detail (putting it into the subconscious). That is when ‘practise’ starts – repetition with ‘no mind’ consolidates the learning and makes the technique part of us. One aim this year was to do fewer techniques and give more opportunities for people to experience this deeper practice. It will be remembered as the year of 1st form Yonkyo!
We also explored five new ‘Principles for Following’ to help clarify the role of the uke.
Same venue booked for next year: Saturday 1st Aug to Wednesday 5th August 2026.
Memory jogging notes are underway and will be sent out shortly to remind people what they covered on the sessions they attended (Teachers and Assistant Teachers get all the notes).
